Elizabeth's story is more compplicated than anyone thinks.

so, what if she was never born a Salvatore. She was switched at birth with a dead baby. The real Elizabeth Salvatore was a stillborne baby, while my charrie was supposed to be someone else (who's name i have a blank for). She finds out but she keeps it from everyone else because she doesnt want them to see her differently.

Her birthmother and father may be in Crystal Water's community, they may not be. But she does her best to keep this information from everyone possible, but it fails. During some event, Damon goes into her room and see's the paper work on her desk explaining it all.

I think you love the drama, also believe that that is a great story idea.

So...... New idea.

A human in the town is found drained to death. Somewhere, somehow, it is blamed on Liz. And untill the Vampire Authority can deterimne if she did/didnt (which she really didnt) she is placed in a cave and locked in it by a witchs curse. And in the thread we can have flashback scenes with one or multiple characters as she looks through a photo album and thinks about her past.

Maybe this is a better idea?
