When Wishes Come True

Maybe this is what Katherine should have expected, but she was getting bored. Crystal Waters represented a new adventure, but that wasn't enough to entertain her completely. Leaving was out of the question, though. She'd spent most of her life going from town to town and she wanted that to stop, at least for a while. She'd end up getting bored in the next town anyway, so she might as well try and overcome that problem while she was in Crystal Waters.

With a sigh, she looked around, hoping to see something new, something that would get her out of her boredom, but she saw nothing out of the usual. Of course. What could she expect, a purple elephant? Katherine concentrated on her drink as she wondered what she could do about her boredom. If only something different happened...

Bill walked in flanked by his guards. Both were scanning the area with keen eyes. Many people stopped to look at the King of Crystal Waters. He looked around a bit bored and walked to the bar motioning his guards to wait outside. No one would dare attack him here so he didn't feel the need for them. Sitting down at the bar next to a girl he didn't remember seeing here before he ordered a tru blood and sighed. "You new here?" He asked calmly

"Pretty much." Katherine replied as she turned to look at the man who had spoken to her. She'd never talked to him before, she was sure of it. It might not be much, but things were starting to look up. Maybe she wasn't doomed to live in boredom if she decided to really settle down for the first time in centuries. But that was just a supposition, she reminded herself, not wanting to get her hopes up. She'd imagined that a Klaus-free life would be great, and though she wasn't completely free from him, she was definitely enjoying her relative freedom. The only problem was that her plans weren't working out quite like she wanted them too. "What about you?"

Bill smiled a bit as he looked at her. "No. I've been here for a while" He said with a slight southern accent. His order of Tru blood arrived and he took a drink sighing as he tasted the life giving liquid. To bad it wasn't as good as the real thing. "So what brings you here to good old Crystal Waters?" He asked genuinely curious. He hadn't received news that a new vampire had come in so he was a bit curious how she slipped through his information net.

"Opportunity." There was no way Katherine was going to tell a random stranger exactly what opportunity had gotten her there. What if he was part of the Authority? Then she'd be into so much trouble she doubted she'd ever see the outside world again. "Crystal Waters seemed like the kind of place where I could stay a while, too." She half-lied, not wanting to arise any suspicions.

Bill chuckled as he took another drink "I think someone needs to learn to lie better" He said with a slight smirk. His eyes looking at her almost as if they were burrowing into her soul. You didn't become King without being able to tell when someone was lying or not. That and recognizing half truths were part of the job description. "Don't worry. I wont pry. As long as you don't cause trouble we'll have no problems at all" He said. His voice suddenly darkened. "But if you do cause trouble I'll rip your spine out and beat you with it" He said. His voice barely above a whisper but still loud enough for her to hear.

"I didn't come here to cause trouble. I came here to get away from it." She was careful not to make it a half-truth this time. That guy seemed to have a good radar for them, considering that he'd caught Katherine and she was a very good liar. What she told him was the truth that she wouldn't have admitted had the situation been any other. She didn't like telling people that she had a side which wasn't so troublemaker. But who was that guy? He sounded like he was more important and powerful than she'd initially thought. Maybe he was part of the King's guard? She'd heard that those guys had a knack for making threats. "Who are you?" She asked, genuinely curious.

Bill smirked as he looked at her now full on. "You come into a mans territory without knowing who he is or what he looks like? Very unwise kid" He said as he leaned back in his chair. "Bill Compton King of Crystal Waters" He said holding out his hand for her to shake. It seemed that his threat never happened as his warm smile replaced that of the cold glare.

"I never really got around to it." Katherine shrugged. She'd never really thought about it, though she had to admit that it really was stupid. The king himself was talking to her and she didn't even know it. Most people would consider it an honor, but Katherine wasn't really into the whole "King worshiping" thing.

She shook Bill's hand, and she had to admit that he was a great actor. One minute he looked like he could really kill her - not that she doubted his ability to do so, having a whole guard to back him up - and the other he looked just as friendly as he had when he came in. "Katherine, Katherine Pierce."

Bill smiled as he shook her hand. "Its a pleasure to meet you" He said warmly with his slight southern accent. He glanced around keeping a look out for Pam. He was still slightly worried about the favor he owed her. She would most likely ask something impossible and force him to do it. He sighed as he looked back at her. "Have you seen Eric Northman around here? Tall muscular blond vampire. Owns the club?" He asked hopefully. He still had some business to take care of with him.

Eric Northman? Katherine had a feeling that she'd heard that name before, but she wasn't sure where or when. For all she knew, she could have heard it decades before, though that wasn't very probable since Bill was looking for him in Crystal Waters. The description was very familiar to her as well, and she thought she could have seen him around town or on the club a few times before."I might have seen him once or twice around here, but not today." She shook her head. "Why?"

Bill groaned as he shook his head. It was nearly impossible to find him anymore. Maybe he would have better luck if he sent someone for him. "I have some personal business to take care of with him. That personal business just so happened to be trying to talk Pam into taking it easy on him with the favor. Oh god was he desperate to have to ask Eric of all people for help.
